Based in Boston, Massachusetts, Bill is a marketing strategist and general manager with 25+ years of experience building new businesses in the global diagnostic, life sciences and medical device sectors. His expertise includes strategic business planning & commercialization, international market development & expansion, business development and general management.  Bill is flexible, pragmatic and direct in his approach with a leadership style that inspires a cooperative effort within multidisciplinary teams to drive success. He has a strong technical foundation and a demonstrated track record for building and driving highly profitable new businesses through technology innovation.

Over the course of his career, Bill has held a number of executive level positions in Fortune 500 companies including PerkinElmer and Millipore Corporations. In his most recent role as VP/GM, Molecular Diagnostics at PerkinElmer, Bill led a global startup focused on inherited genetic disorders and infectious disease, ramping sales to $22M in just 3 years. Bill’s business development activities led to 4 company acquisitions that expanded the products and clinical lab services portfolio and the regional footprint in 3 high growth markets. Bill led all of the integrations, one of which involved a move to India. Prior to PerkinElmer, Bill worked at Millipore Corporation, a global leader in purification tools for the Life Science and Biotech markets. While there, he launched a number of high growth ventures including the company’s diagnostic membranes and nucleic acid sample prep businesses.

 

Bill has a great understanding of international markets and cultural diversity having lived and worked in several locations around the globe including the U.S., Europe, India, China, Japan and Thailand. He earned B.S. and M.S. degrees in Biology, magna cum laude from the University of Massachusetts, Boston.
